We are the nonprofit Oregon public benefit corporation that operates 4d2 dot org, a public service offering individuals and communities free access to many online collaboration and community-building tools that are commonly available only through corporations with profit motives.

In line with 4d2's mission, we aim to advance education, science and grassroots community organization by providing individuals and nonprofits with free access to internet-based, open source communication and collaboration tools — particularly those tools which are generally based on new technologies; experimental technologies; or legacy technologies which have fallen out of mainstream public awareness but which retain redeeming qualities in light of our overall purposes.

4d2 dot org has a 24-year history of operations, including 21 years as a privately-funded sole proprietorship and another 3 years as the sole public project of the Dev Null Foundation, a Missouri nonprofit corporation. Like our predecessors, we will prioritize public transparency in everything we do, and we plan to include our legal documents and meeting minutes on this page for your perusal. We endeavor to operate without mystery.

Our Employer Identification Number (EIN) with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service is 33-2886561. Our tax exempt status determination is pending. Until then, for US taxpayers, we are not a 501(c)(3) charity and you should not assume that any donations made to us are tax deductible.
